BIR launches South Luzon tax campaign

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) launched the South Luzon segment of its 2026 Regional Tax Campaign on Feb. 27 to boost compliance ahead of the April filing season. The event took place at Jose Rizal Coliseum in Calamba City, Laguna, with officials and employees from Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Romblon, Laguna, Quezon, Marinduque, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon in attendance.
“Comply correctly. File on time. Pay what is due,” said BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza in his keynote. The campaign aims to guide taxpayers in understanding their obligations and navigating requirements.
Mendoza also discussed the BIR’s digital initiatives, including a Digital Interactive Tax Calendar, QR verification tools, and a planned integrated Taxpayer Portal for easier access to registration, filing, and payment records. He cited enforcement reforms, including tighter monitoring of illicit vape products and ongoing cases under the Run After Tax Evaders program.
The South Luzon launch is part of a nationwide rollout, with similar events scheduled in March for the Visayas and North Luzon to strengthen tax awareness.
